1st Kuching's 50th Anniversary

1ST KUCHING's 50th ANNIVERSARY
1961-2011

The year 2011 will be significant for the 1st Kuching Company of The Boys' Brigade in Malaysia. It will be the year when the 1st Kuching Company will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of its founding. The birth of the BB in East Malaysia, Sarawak in particular, officially took place at the first enrolment service held in St Thomas' Cathedral on Sunday 17th December 1961. Since that fateful day, there are now 51 companies in East Malaysia alone, 34 in Sarawak, 15 in Sabah and 2 in Brunei.

The Golden Jubilee Celebration Main Committee for the 50th Anniversary of the First Kuching Company had their first meeting on Thursday 28th January 2010, at the MPR, St Thomas’ Cathedral, at 7.30p.m.

The Committee proposed plan for the celebration, which will be finalised next meeting and more after the Sarawak State Council AGM.
  1. 50th Anniversary Launch/Celebration Kick-off – New “Golden” 1st Kuching colours presentation and blessing. Proposed date: 19 Dec 2010 (Sunday). Noted that 1st Enrolment was on Sunday,17 Dec 1961. Estimated Cost of colour, full set is RM2500 will be purchase.
  2. Founders’ Day and Thanksgiving Service – to be organized by 1st Kuching. Date to be confirm later.
  3. Magazine or e-magazine(DVD) – proposed to have both. PIC will be appointed later
  4. Website – currently using http://www.1stkuchingbb.blogspot.com/ Proposed to use other social network like facebook to update members.
  5. Stedfast Association Games and Re-union Dinner – this will be organized especially for all the ex-members.
  6. Display and Review(with banquet) – proposed to be organize by Southern Regional Council
  7. MIAW Games – proposed to be organize by NCOs, Southern Regional Council
  8. Camp(with Evangelistic Rally) – proposed to be organize by Sarawak State Council
  9. Logo competition – proposed to be organize by Sarawak State Council. 1st Kuching will also be designing its 50th ann. Logo. Propose to start immediately and closing date in Oct2010. Price will be decided later.
  10. Souvenirs items – proposed to be organize by State Depot as well as 1st Kuching.
  11. Community Project – need members to input ideas.

Funding
The committee will depend on the following activities to raise fund:

Invitations are now extended to volunteers, especially Ex-members to come forward to assist in the organising of the auspicious event.

The next meeting is on 4th March 2010 at the MPR, St Thomas' Cathedral at 7.30pm.
